Tomorrow is April Fools Day and if I could have only one wish, it would be for this whole "thing that shall not be named," to be a big joke. If only. We are still getting used to our new normal around here, as I'm sure you are. I've been going through many emotions every day, cycling through angry, sad and fine. Way too many snacks have been eaten, many glasses of wine have been consumed. Sigh.
It is hard to come to grips with things that are outside our circle of control, especially with something that so deeply affects each and every one of us. I wish I had some definitive answers for you, but I'm still searching myself.
I will tell you that distraction is helpful. Turn off the news for most of the day. Stay informed, but stay guarded. Protect your mental health and that of your family by disconnecting from news and social media for the majority of the day if you are able. It definitely helps me.
Read the article by my friend Victoria in this week's newsletter about going bear hunting with her daughters. I love her encouragement to change your mindset with one word. She wrote, "You are not stuck at home, you are SAFE at home."
Here's a great April Fools joke to play on your kids. I did this last year and their reaction was hilarious.
We got three good days out of this boat before it popped. |
