Practicing the Expression of Gratitude

A Note From Your Publisher

By Jess Searcy November 12, 2019

Monday nights are usually when I sit down to type out my note from the publisher. But I couldn't do it last night. I was in a foul mood and I knew it would come out sounding just like I was feeling... cranky and wanting to be alone (or at least away from my noisy kids)! I'm so glad I waited.

This morning, I woke up feeling much better. And as I reflected back on the weekend, one word sprang to mind. Gratitude.

That word has been popping up all over, as it usually does this time of year. We've been learning about it in karate class, in our homeschool co-op and several other places. And how expressing it can make you feel happier.

When I woke up this morning, I was thinking about all the things my hubs did for us over the weekend. And gratitude washed over me like a warm, fuzzy blanket. So here's the expression part. He deserves a big Thank You and some public recognition. Here's a partial list of what he did:

  • worked late on Friday, so he could take Monday off to be with us
  • cooked a big eggs, waffles and bacon breakfast on Saturday
  • took the guys to a birthday party AND bought the gift!
  • cooked dinner on Sunday and Monday nights (and not easy recipes either!)
  • washed and put away many, many loads of laundry
  • took down and put away Halloween decorations
  • went grocery shopping
  • took the guys shoe and clothes shopping

Isn't this amazing?! I mean, wow... really! Thank you, Michael. You are The. Best.

While Daddy was home running errands and doing chores, we went to Disney on Ice for the first time!
