10 Days for Your Family to Mark This September

Fall arrives this month and there are some fun and special days to help you get ready

September means summer is ending and fall has arrived. It means kids are back at school ... or will be soon! But those aren't the only reasons to mark this month. Here are 10 holidays and events your family can recognize in September:

National Cheese Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza Days

What? Two days to celebrate pizza this month? Why not?!? Celebrate National Cheese Pizza Day first, and then a few weeks later mark National Pepperoni Pizza Day. The kids will love you! Order out or grill your pizza to celebrate. Sept. 5 and Sept. 20

National Read a Book Day

Today is the perfect opportunity to make some time to read. Read something you love and read with the kids. Share that joy of reading with them not just today -- but every day. Sept. 6

National Grandparents Day

Grandparents are special. If your children's grandparents are local, spend time showing them just how important they truly are to your family. If they aren't local, plan ahead and send a handmade card and some recent photos of the kids or make a Family Tree Craft with the kids. Sept. 8

National Day of Service and Remembrance

Sept. 11 is a day to reflect on the devastating 2001 attacks that changed our country so much. Remember those we lost and give thanks to the first responders. Sept. 11

International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Ahoy, Matey! Have fun and talk like a pirate today. Sept. 19

First Day of Fall

As summer slips away into fall and days get shorter, enjoy the cooler fall weather. Celebrate fall by finding all of the local fall happenings on our event calendar. Sept. 23

National Comic Book Day

Comic books first originated in the United States in the 1930s. Celebrate National Comic Book Day with a visit to the local comic book store. Sept. 25

Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness Week

Macaroni Kid publishers across the United States and Canada will be spreading kindnesses throughout their communities this week, in ways both big and small. Won't you join us in spreading joy? Show us by using hashtag #MKAOKDay. Sept. 28-Oct. 5
