The Stay in Your Room for 24-hours Challenge - Their Idea

A Note From Your Publisher

By Jess Searcy June 11, 2019

My kids have decided to challenge each other in what they are calling "The 24-hour Challenge." Basically, each has to stay in their own room for 24 hours straight with only 30 minutes of screen time and potty breaks allowed. My friends are placing their bets on Facebook now. Who is going to last 24 hours two hours? Who is going to break first? It is all very amusing. I added some rules too. Like, no popping out every five minutes to request entertainment. I did agree to bring them meals though. And I made a casual pile of books and activity work books for each of them (I can't be too eager about this or they won't touch them... hence "casual"). I will let you know how it goes in next week's note. My prediction? Evan, who can listen to audio books for hours on end, will make it the longest. I predict neither will make it 24-hours! We shall see though. Sometimes, they surprise me.

Last night I was up late working on the newsletter and realized that all of my fur babies were keeping me company and that I could get them all into one picture (but just barely). I already shared this on Instagram, but I just love it, so wanted to share it here. This just makes me so happy. It's all quiet and everybody is napping all around me. We have two dogs (Patrick and Eliza) and three cats (Tuna, Ender and Creeper). And yes, you may recognize Patrick as our foster stray I found wandering a highway a couple months ago. He's still with us and I just adore him. I can't let him go now!
