TreeTop Family Adventure: Birthdays that are Fun for Kids, Easy on Mom

A Macaroni Kid South Birmingham Review

By Jess Searcy May 28, 2019

We have one birthday that falls close to Christmas and another that falls close to Easter. Needless to say, with everything else going on, there's not a whole lot of time left to plan and execute epic, pinterest-worthy birthday parties. So, to save my sanity, I have learned to outsource parties to the experts! This year, Cole (just turned eight-years-old) requested a "go-kart" birthday, so we called on the experts at TreeTop Family Adventure to make it happen. It was a brilliant plan. From the pre-party phone call walk through, to the on site personal attention, TreeTop makes parties easy on parents. All we had to do was bring the cake and take pictures! Read on for more party details and to see how the kids liked it! If you want just a quick glimpse of what TreeTop has to offer, scroll to the end of the article and watch our short video!

Attractions

TreeTop Family Adventure checks just about everything on a kid's fun to-do list. I mean, just come for a visit one day and see what your kids think. Besides racking up the sweet, little bear hugs, you'll have some great family memories.

Go-karts

Of course, for our guys, this was the main attraction. Evan (our 10 year old) was stoked he was tall enough to drive this time and enjoyed challenging his buddies and Dad to some real life racing. Kids must be 56" tall to drive. He also had no qualms about driving me around to capture video for our review. I think the goal was to see how loud he could get me to scream. There *may* have been a spin-out and a crash involved due to his over enthusiasm. The birthday boy isn't yet tall enough to drive, so enjoyed the thrills with Dad driving him around.

Evan relished being in the driver's seat and making me scream around every turn!

Animal Trax

Ok, so when I saw this attraction on the website, my first thought was, "awww, how cute... something for the toddlers to do!" Even though it distinctly says "fun for kids of all ages," in the description. I thought my guys wouldn't be caught dead riding giant stuffed animals in front of all their friends. Boy, was I wrong. Cole led the charge into the Animal Trax room and all his friends followed with glee, including the 10 and 11 year olds. Look at those faces. Do you think they are having fun? A bunch of us parents stood around and giggled, shaking our heads. Fun was definitely had.

Everybody getting terribly silly in the Animal Trax room.

Laser Tag

This was another fun place to be at TreeTop. The kind of fun that involves real life Fortnite skills and no room for Moms with cameras. They squeezed in at least two battles during the party.

Mini Golf

Who doesn't love a round of mini golf? This course has some nice trees for shade in the heat too.

Arcade

Another hot attraction for my video game nerds. No shortage of motorcycles and cars to race or zombies to destroy. The birthday boy gets 500 bonus tickets to turn in for prizes at the end of the day too! How awesome is that?

Kid Zone

In this area, there is a huge, enclosed playground, where kids can climb up three stories to the ceiling, go down slides, and practice their ninja, stealth moves on the obstacles. There are also a few inflatable bounce houses in this section. If you have a preschooler or younger elementary birthday to celebrate, this is the area I think will be awesome for them. I have some great memories of meeting friends at a place like this during hot summer weather and just letting the kids play all day long (which you could totally do here). Sadly, I think our kids might be aging out of this type of attraction. Or it could be, there was just too much to explore in one day. For these reasons, we only spent a little time here during the party.

Party Details - Easy, Easy, Easy is all you need to know

The TreeTop Family Adventure staff made our birthday party so eaaaasssssy. Before the party, they called me at least twice to make sure we knew what to expect and to answer any questions we had. And once we arrived, our room was already set up and ready to go, complete with a rack outside the room to hold gifts and belongings. Party rooms are reserved for 90 minutes, so there's plenty of time for cake, food and even opening gifts if that's your jam. We prefer to spend our time playing, so we used the room more as a "home base," and safe place to keep our stuff.

Literally, all we had to do was bring the cupcakes, snacks and drinks. Of course, you *can* bring all your own stuff if you want to, but birthday party themed table cloths, plates, napkins,  cups, utensils, and even ice, is included in the party packages, so factor that in as a savings on your party planning. I decided to forgo the themed paper products this year, knowing the kids would be spending most of their time out playing on the attractions anyway. Plus, Cole wanted a "go-kart" birthday. Who needs go-kart themed plates and napkins when you get to go ride an actual go-kart.

For parties, there are two price points. The less expensive option allows you to "pick two" attractions for your guests (up to 10) to enjoy at $220. For the ultimate party though, there is the unlimited attractions option at $320, for up to 10 kids. Both options also receive $5 in arcade credits for each guest.

Set-up, clean-up and loads of friendly staff constantly asking if you need anything is included in all parties.

Shout out to Patrick, Alex and the rest of the staff at TreeTop for making Cole's 8th birthday extra special. We really had a wonderful time.
