Halloween Party Idea: Spider (or Bug) Snacks!

By Jess Searcy October 2, 2018

Want to be the coolest mom at your kid's next class Halloween party? Try making these delicious little, chocolate-covered peanut butter cracker spiders? Depending on how many legs you put on, they could also be bugs! This was always my go to treat when my guys were small. Now they are old enough to help me make them!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips
  • 1 package round crackers
  • straight pretzel sticks
  • peanut butter
  • candy-covered chocolates (like Reeses Pieces or M&Ms)

This is all you need to make the best Halloween party snack!

Directions:

  1. Melt chocolate chips by placing them in a heat proof bowl or pan over another pan with about 1 inch of water.  Turn stove on medium and stir constantly until chocolate is smooth.
  2. Using a couple of forks, dip crackers in melted chocolate one by one until completely coated. Place coated crackers on pre-prepared cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. While dipped crackers are still soft, place chocolate candies on top to make eyes. Use a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate to dot the eyes.
  4. When cookie sheet is filled, place in refrigerator to harden chocolate.
  5. While chocolate-covered crackers are cooling, spread peanut butter on a second batch of crackers.
  6. Place pretzel sticks (we like some with long legs and some with short legs) on peanut butter coated crackers to make legs. Give each cracker either 6 or 8 legs.
  7. When chocolate-covered crackers are firm, you can remove from refridgerator and put them together with the peanut butter crackers to complete each spider.
  8. Enjoy!
