It never occurred to me that a meal delivery service would be a great way to wow some friends for a dinner party. It was one of those “why didn’t I think of this before!” moments.

This past weekend, I hosted some neighbor friends for a Home Chef taste testing feast. What a great idea for any dinner party with friends! Next time you’re planning one, think about how Home Chef can make it easier to serve up some deliciousness to a crew that will actually EAT and ENJOY your food?! #notoddlersallowed

Honestly though, the kids are gonna love it too. I cooked up some “Roasted Salmon with Ginger-Scallion Sauce and charred green beans,” (which sounds incredibly fancy, right?) and the nine-year-old not only completely scarfed it up like his brain was begging for omega-3s, he asked for MORE. Rare mom win here people. Even the seven-year-old picky pants ate some without ketchup! And that's sayin' something.

Evan loved this salmon and green beans dish!

Here are the four things I liked best about our first Home Chef box:

  1. Tasty – Hubs said, “This is definitely the best one we’ve tried,” of all the meal delivery services. I agree. Nine-year-old agrees. Seven-year-old hasn't earned his voting rights yet (but he'd probably agree). Our neighbor friends were all "omm-ing" and "nom-ing," too.
  2. Convenient – love how all the ingredients (except for the meats, which were separated) for each meal were delivered together in their own neat little bags, ready to pull out of the fridge when you’re ready to cook
  3. Variety – there were EIGHTEEN things to choose from! 1. 8. Things. And they all looked pretty durn healthy too. I had no problem picking out five that looked scrumptious (we ended up with salmon, shrimp, pork, steak AND chicken... how is THAT for variety?!)
  4. Simple - I was so very nervous about messing up the steak for my friends. And I would not have chosen that one to cook had one of my friends not specifically requested it. After all, I am never the one to cook steak in our house (that's hubby's job). But guess what?! It turned out great! The directions were easy to follow and it was tender and tasty!
