DIY Paper Straw Necklace

By Sarah Hauge, Publisher, Macaroni Kid, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Centennial, CO July 10, 2018

There's something about plastic beads that causes them to end up ALL OVER my house when we use them for craft projects. I have had enough! Fortunately, with the latest anti-plastic movements, there couldn't be a more perfect time to make the swap from those pesky plastic beads to more eco-friendly choices. That's how we were inspired to create a paper straw necklace. This simple, inexpensive, mom-approved craft is suitable for even the youngest of artisans.

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper Straws ~ We found our rainbow unicorn themed straws at Target
  • String or ribbon
  • Needle (optional)
  • Embellishments (optional) ~ stickers, paper cutouts, charms ~ free printables below!

Instructions:

  1. Cut the paper straws into smaller segments. Our straws are cut to 3/4-inch long pieces.
  2. String the paper straws onto your string/ribbon.
  3. Embellish as you'd like!

(Print these embellishments to add to your necklace)
