Local Biz Buzz: Make Your Child's Next Birthday Party Special!

A Review of Pump It Up Pelham, Nino's Italian Restaurant and Cake Art by Cynthia

By Jess Searcy June 20, 2017

All you really need for the perfect birthday party is three elements: fun, pizza and cake! If you are planning a party soon, Macaroni Kid South Birmingham knows the three local businesses you should call to plan a super simple and FUN party!

Party Venue -- Pump It Up Pelham!

When Macaroni Kid South Birmingham was selected to help launch the new Cars 3 video game, we knew we needed an awesome party venue! Right away, Pump It Up Pelham came to mind. Our kids are already huge fans of their Pop In Play times and the Pump It Up Pelham staff are the experts when it comes to making your birthday parties simple and fun. No need to worry about cleaning your house or planning party games. Just invite your guests and watch them play! Every party comes with jump time on huge inflatables and a private party room. If you want to make your party even simpler, you can add-on party food, drinks, favors or even a pinata! They also have options to make your party even more fun with glow in the dark, bubbles, a balloon drop or glow wars with special glow ball guns.

These two never get tired of playing at Pump It Up.  Good thing for me (and other work-from-home parents) they have free wi-fi too!

Party Food -- Nino's Italian Restaurant

We stopped for lunch at Nino's one day and were floored when our youngest son ate an entire plate full of spaghetti and meatballs! He is typically an extremely picky eater and small for his age, so getting him to eat well is always a challenge. We were so impressed by how much he liked the food at Nino's, we had to tell Walter, one of the owners, before we left. So when we found out Nino's partners with Pump It Up for party pizzas, we were excited to have them provide the food for our Cars 3 launch party. They did not disappoint! The cheese and pepperoni pizzas went fast...devoured by our party guests!

Nino’s Italian Restaurant also has their own party room and provides catering services too. So they may be able to help you with your next office party or family reunion!  Next time you’re in Pelham, stop by Nino’s for lunch or dinner, and try their delicious Italian food!

I almost didn't get a picture of Nino's pizza! All the others had already been gobbled up and I snapped a picture of this last one just in time.

Party Cakes and Favors – Cake Art by Cynthia Bertolone

After visiting Cynthia’s website and seeing all her amazing creations, we were so excited to have her create a special Cars 3 themed cake for our video game launch party. But we really had no idea what to expect. We asked her to showcase her favorite flavor and gave her creative license to do whatever she wanted with the cake and edible party favors.

Oh my goodness, when I walked into the party room and saw the Cars 3 cake Cynthia made for our guests, with the Cars 3 themed sugar cookie favors spread around it, I gasped. Several guests, standing around the room, already knew exactly why I was astonished.  They were nodding their heads in agreement and saying “I know, right?!” The cake was the perfect centerpiece to make our party super special for everyone.  It literally stole the show!

Cynthia chose her signature flavor “chocolate covered strawberry,” for our Cars 3 cake, which is really two cake flavors in one, with strawberry and chocolate layers. And with real strawberries, it was so good. My son Evan asked if we could get strawberry cake for his next birthday party after tasting Cynthia’s cake.

If you get a chance to visit the website for Cake Art by Cynthia, take a look around. She provides catering services and family meals-to-go too! As a busy mama, I think I’m going to have to try those meals-to -go sometime soon.
